As part of the "Justice 2003" project, the LANs of all local and state courts, correctional facilities and higher regional courts in North Rhine-Westphalia are being converted to fiber optics.
Over electrical 180,000 Ethernet ports of the central switches are converted from copper to fiber by SUSI (Shared Units for Switched Interfaces), a media converter and port multiplier.
