EPSM Work Group PSD2-SCA

Ralf Hintner is chairman of the PSD2-SCA working group.

Since 2021, the EU Payment Services Directive PSD2 requires Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) for online card payments.

The main objective of SCA is to reduce fraud across the board by improving payment security through the introduction of two-factor authentication for electronic payments. This will set a new standard for secure payments throughout Europe.

The EPSM (European Association of Payment Service Providers for Merchants) has now established the PSD2-SCA Technical Work Group for association-wide cooperation in the necessary technical implementations.

Our CTO Ralf Hintner was appointed chairman of the working group by the EPSM board. Kurt Schmid from Swiss netcetera supports him as vice chairman.

Ralf Hintner and Kurt Schmid represent member companies that are independent of payment schemes. With their expertise in access technology and 3-D Secure, together they bring over 60 years of technical payment expertise to the working group.
